Fox Chapel Killer Whales Swimming is a USA Swimming Safe Sport recognized club. We are committed to safeguarding our athletes and abide by USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program – a comprehensive abuse prevention program to keep kids safe, including required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision, and mandatory reporting. All Fox Chapel Killer Whales coaches, volunteers, swimmers, and parents/guardians follow the guidelines for Safe Sport Swimming Best Practices (PDF) and observe the below policies and codes of conduct to provide a healthy, safe, and positive environment for swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and families.
How to Report a Safe Sport Concern
- Review our KW Grievance Procedure
- Review USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Reporting Process or call USA Swimming at 719-866-4578.
- File a report with the USA Center for SafeSport, call 833-5US-SAFE (587-7233), or find more information at www.uscenterforsafesport.org.
- Text anonymous tips to 888-270-SWIM (7946).

How to Become Safe Sport Certified (Take a Training Course)
Parents:
- Go to the USA Swimming University page.
- Select the “Parents” circle icon at the top of the page.
- Find “Parents Guide to Misconduct in Sport,” and select “View Info.”
- Select the red “Start” button.
- Log in to your USA Swimming Parent Account.
- Select the button to start the training course. It will take about 30 minutes to complete, and it is free.
Swimmers Ages 13 - 17
- Go to the USA Swimming University page.
- Select the “SafeSport” circle icon at the top of the page.
- Scroll down and find “SafeSport For Youth Athletes (13-17),” and select “View Info.”
- Select the red “Start” button.
- Log in using a Parent USA Swimming Account, and select “Start” or “Resume.”
- Select the button to start the training course. It will take about 15 minutes to complete, and it is free.
Swimmers Ages 18+
- Go to the USA Swimming University page.
- Select the “SafeSport” circle icon at the top of the page.
- Scroll down and find “SafeSport Training for Adult Athletes,” and select “View Info.”
- Select the red “Start” button.
- Log in using a Parent USA Swimming Account and select “Start” or “Resume.”
- Select the button to start the training course. It will take about 30 minutes to complete, and it is free.
Coaches, Officials, Board Members, Chaperones
- Go to the USA Swimming University page.
- Select the “SafeSport” circle icon at the top of the page.
- Scroll down and find “Athlete Protection Training,” and select “View Info.” (Note: If you’ve completed this first training before, you may just need to take one of the refresher courses. Once you log in, you can see which courses you’ve already passed.)
- Select the red “Start” button.
- Log in using a Parent USA Swimming Account and select “Start” or “Resume.”
- Select the button to start the training course. It will take about 90 minutes to complete, and it is free. (Refresher courses are shorter.)
- Note: You may also be required to complete a separate “Background Check” found under “All Courses.”
